A Lush Betrayal (Lush) by Selena Laurence Review

Series: Lush #1
Publish: February 22nd 2014 by C.P. Writes
Format: ebook, 234 pages
Rating: 5 / 4
Synopsis: Joss Jamison has it all. He's the lead singer for the world's hottest rock band, Lush. He's wealthy, sexy, talented...and miserable. Twelve months ago, Joss lost his finely honed control and made a mistake he can't undo. A mistake that could end up costing him his best friend, his band, and maybe his heart.
Mel DiLorenzo has it all. She's been hired to document the world tour of her sister's fiance's rock band. She's gorgeous, talented, loved...and sick of being the little sister. When she agrees to the summer job, Mel has no idea she's walking into a minefield of friendships lost and hearts destroyed. She also has no idea what it means to be the object of Joss Jamison's affections.
One hot rock star plus one life-altering mistake, add a dash of sexy younger sister and a handful of broken hearts, and you've got a recipe for fire. Life on the road can be hot, but for the boys of Lush, it's about to get a whole hell of a lot hotter.
Review:
This is my first read from this author so I don’t really have anything to compare with. Alone the cover, the synopsis and the fact that it’s about rock stars convinced me to read it. The story is basically about three friends and a lot of heartbreaking emotions.

Joss is the leading man of Lush, a pretty famous rock band so you would think that he is a typical rock star persona. However as we get to immersed more and more into the story it became obvious that he is much more than that. He has a very deep And complex personality; he betrayed one of his best friends and keeping his action takes a lot out of him and the guilt slowly eats him away. He is afraid to confess the truth because he fears the consequences. So he is not himself when we first meet him. The truth is that he didn’t plan on doing what he did, but it doesn’t make it easier. But everything changes when he meets Mel. His guilt stays and the consequences only grow, but for the first time for a while he feels god in his skin and becomes his old self.
Mel is beautiful, who was around Lush from the beginning since her sister is the long time girlfriend of one of the members. Somehow they still didn’t notice her presence, simply see through her. She was the invisible little sister. That’s why when her sister asks her a favor she has mixed feelings about it. For one, she is excited because it’s a fantastic possibility in regard of her carrier. On the other hand she doesn’t know if she can work with her sister, she had enough of being in Tammy shadow where nobody sees the real Mel. When Joss starts to show interest in her she doesn’t know how to respond since she knows well about his reputation with woman. In addition to this everybody around her tries to keep them apart, especially Tammy, who acts like a lunatic every time Mel and Joss are close to each other.
Tammy is not my kind of a girl; I didn’t like her a bit. She is really conceited, extremely jealous and infuriates me a lot. The reason behind this comes to light but if she could keep her mouth shut there wouldn’t be a problem.
Unfortunately the other characters stay in the dark; we don’t really get to know them. It’s a pity.

The author interlinks the fascinating characters and the rock stars’ word in an exceptional way. I laughed a lot during reading thanks to the amazing writing. It’s easy to read and relate to the story. My only problem is that the big betrayal comes to light very soon in the storyline and because of this and the characters background it’s obvious that their relationship is doomed from the very beginning. After finishing the book I feel I didn’t get what the synopsis promised.

Broken (Broken) by Kelly Elliott Review

Will they both ever learn to trust and love again, or will their pasts come back to haunt them, keeping them both alone and...
Broken.
Review:
Kelly Elliott has an outstanding talent to create stories which are extremely sweet and steamy at the same time. Okay her books are a little bit predictable but not so much. She can create exceptional situations and can make the same situation a bit different every time giving them a novel feel, atmosphere. There is little bit of a similarity between this series and her Wanted series. Both takes place in Texas with cowboys and loveable best friends, whom stir up the events. But there are plenty of differences between them. First of all that in this book there is an older cast and has a more mature and darker topic.

Both of the main characters have a lot of emotional and physical scars. They come from very different worlds, backgrounds still they have a similarly hard past.
Layton’s father left him and his brother so they had to grow up really fast and only could rely on each other. If it wouldn’t be enough he lost his brother and the love of his life left him, too. While Whitley has a beautiful and good childhood but her taste in boys is not the best. The man she chooses for husband slowly turned into a monster and completely broke her. They hit rock bottom and thought there is no way out they met.

Their first meeting is not roses and love; they are constantly at each other throat. However these little disagreements and the banter between them turn into attraction somewhere along the line. They learn to love again with each other help and thanks to this they get over the obstacles. The sexual tension and the chemistry are palpable. It’s impossible to put down the books until the two main characters confess their feelings and take the road to emotional healing.

The plot is built typically in Kelly Elliott style, makes a full circle. It’s a fluidly flowing story that sucks the reader in completely. It’s full of romance, amusing little events, emotional debates and a lot of pleasant moments in the company of a freshly formed circle of friends. Of course there is a lot of drama and a bad guy too. The author not only endears her characters but makes the reader an addict. I can’t wait to read the next book, however not because of Courtney and Reed but because I hope there is more Layton and Whitley in it too. Courtney and Reed behavior with each other makes it hard to like them.

About the cast? There is an extremely sexy cowboy, who is a bit closed up in the beginning but slowly opens up and shows his true personality. He is really passionate, caring and sweet and all of this without losing his masculinity. I couldn’t help myself; I constantly smiled during reading his point of view.
Then there is Whitley who is the perfect damsel in distress, but still a very strong and persistent character. She is really honest and loveable; it’s easy to relate to her.
We also get a very detailed description about the secondary characters too. And they are the levers for the main characters, whom on the edge of giving up in the beginning of the story. Despite this Courtney and Reed couldn’t get along, in each other presence they act like completely different persons and most of time it’s an ugly change. I know it supposed to prepare their story but it’s not really appealing.

I absolutely love this book and hope there are a lot of people who agree with me. A fantastic story, I can recommend it to anyone who likes light romantic books.

Review:
I randomly choose this book from my TBR list without rereading the synopsis and since I couldn’t remember it I ‘went in’ kind of blind. I even was contemplating to abandon it after it became obvious that there is a huge age difference between the main characters. I can tolerate a lot of gruesome thing in books but for some reason I don’t like books where is a huge age gap between the characters in a relationship, especially one where they could be parent-child and the older character helped raise the other since birth. That’s my limit. However this book has a really great writing style and the story sucked me in from the beginning so I continued. I didn’t regret it.

The book has a very good structure and the story flow fluidly. It’s kind of short but it spans in a sufficiently long time. There is a bit jumping in the timeline but way it’s go by in it just makes the story more believable, more realistic and not as insta that in other similar stories.
The book is narrated from two different points of view. We see thing from Nevada and Wizard side, too.

Nevada is 21-years-old but has an old soul. She had a lot of hardship while growing up so she is a pro survivor but besides surviving she doesn’t do much else. She’s not living just existing or as she states in multiple occasions she floats through life. It’s hard for her to trust in anybody or even just enjoy herself. But she has a clear picture about life and a quite different personality under the hard, quiet and shy outer shell she formed around herself. It’s time for happiness. Oh, and I think she is the first character who doesn’t make a fit about how ‘her man’ treats her, she knows her place. Don’t get me wrong I don’t agree the way they treat woman in MC books, but if you willingly enter a relationship like that then don’t whine about it.
Wizard is older than Nevy and known her form birth. He also had to grow up fast and had a hard and unusual childhood, but he found a family with the club. He is quite levelheaded, respectful and reasonable but also has a harder, scarier and more dangerous side he needs when dealing with club business. He is not a saint but not too bad after you get to know him.

My only problem is that I think the story has a lot more potential in it than the author used up. It could have been more detailed. I also think that the ending is rushed.
There is plenty of action, emotion and twist and my heart almost break a couple of time.

I liked the, it gone full circle, has a beginning and a satisfying ending but still short. I liked how it relays emotions in times it’s almost palpable. It’s an MC book but not that harsh and crude than others. I think I’m gonna check the author other works, too.

UnTouch Me (Angels Warriors MC Trilogy) by Dawn Martens Review

Series: Angels Warriors MC Trilogy #2
Publish: April 20th 2015 by Dawn Martens
Format: ebook, 220 pages
Rating: 5 / 4
Synopsis: The truth always comes out, no matter how deep you try to bury it. Secrets never make their way to the grave.
Lilly Mayer has always lived a simple life. She’s loyal—maybe too loyal since faithfulness cost her the love of her life. Keeping Eden’s whereabouts a secret from everyone, including Vinny, has ripped away Lilly’s future.
Vincent “Zippo” Torino knows he’s a goddamn bastard. And he’s willing to use Lilly’s loyalty to Eden as his own escape from a hell he created. He doesn’t give a damn that he’s leaving the woman pregnant with his child behind—not when he has to protect his own destructive secret. And not when he’s sure she’s going to beat him to the punch and leave first.
As the dangers to the club escalate, nobody’s hearts—or lives—are safe.
Review:
I absolutely love Dawn Martens’ books. However the first book in this series was a huge disappointment for me. That’s why I was a bit reluctant to read this one, but with the way the first book ended I couldn’t help myself.

Fortunately the structure of UnTouch me is so much better than UnKiss me, that purely this gave the story a better chance in my book. It has a clear timeline with a couple of well placed glance in the past here and there, but the most positive difference that it has a preceptible beginning and a more or less clean ending. Still has a cliffhanger but at least it’s feasible. This is what I was missing from the first book the clear, follow able and logical timeline.
Sure there are still things bugging me but it would be strange if all of the books I read ended the way I want them.

This story is told from different characters point of view but the books strongly intertwine with one another. We get to know Lilly and Zippo story but the conflict from the previous book starts to unfold on another thread, too. I like that we get some kind of explanation for things that happened, even if it’s not a full one, yet. Most of these connecting events are surprising and not even remotely predictable.

Lilly and Zippo’s story is kind of heartbreaking and depressing. Honestly the characters in this series have a really twisted, screwed up values. All they do are making stupid mistakes and decisions. As in the first book with Eden and Angel, now with Lilly and Zippo the secrets rule and eventually destroy their relationship.
I don’t want to rant about their screw ups because then my review would be full of spoilers and I don’t want that, but let me tell you this Zippo reasoning simply pissed me off. He has extremely strong double standards and in times even act disgustingly. More importantly he doesn’t have a remotely justifiable reason for his actions, like Angel has, other than being a prick.
Lilly is kind of naïve, a bit too forgiving but loyal to a fault. Her loyalty causes her a lot of grief. In my opinion she deserves better than Zippo, but love is blind.

Overall this book is much better than the first installment. It’s of heartbreaking emotions and drama with better structure for it. I liked it and it’s more like Dawn Martens other works.
The way she lined up the stores in the series is a new idea, and it’s good when authors try new thing out but it’s not working, for me at least. In this genre I like when the story is clean cut.
I hoping for a happy ending, and a triple one at that, in the next book and I’m quite curious about the mysterious ‘Unknown’ characters’ identity so I’m gonna read the next book and I hope the next story is going to be more like this one than the first.

Oh and the cover is freaking amazing.

Until July (Until Her) by Aurora Rose Reynolds Review

Series: Until Her #1
Publish: April 13th 2015 by Aurora Rose Reynolds
Format: ebook, 215 pages
Rating: 5 / 3.5
Synopsis: Wes Silver wasn’t looking for love, but when July Mayson literally knocks him on his ass during their first encounter, his world is turned upside down by the quirky blonde, and every moment with her makes him more determined to protect her.
July Mayson doesn’t understand the pull she feels toward the bad boy biker Wes Silver, but she knows being with him is like nothing she’s ever felt before. Now all she has to do is tell her overprotective father, Asher Mayson, that she’s found her boom.
Review:
I absolutely loved Aurora Rose Reynolds's other books, and I was really happy when I found out that her Until series gets not one but two spin off serieses. Oh and after I read the expert from Until July I was sure I was going to love this book too. Unfortunatley I was a bit dissapointed. Her writing style was still the same but I was expecteng more from the story than I got.

First there was the fact that the MC world and the way how the Maysons view the world and what's right and wahts not is not exactly goes together. Don't get me wrong there is a lot of similarities between the two 'lifestyle' for example the 'alpha maleness' or the hot temper. Still somehow it didn't feel right, how they found the same page. And usually both life styles really strong on their own I felt that either of them got developed well enough in this story. It was a bit lacking from both sides. I could get over this but honestly I was expecting a little bit more exitement and action from the story.

July was generally a likeable character but not my favorite. She had her funny momnets and had a really soft heart but this clashed with her so called temper I couldn't find anywhere, oh and i felt she had no will power whatsoever. In the beginning of the book every time there was a conflict point Wes just went near her and she forgot why was she angry or disappointed and so and so. The end result was good but I still didn't like this trait of hers.
Wes was the typical alpha male, even more protective and secretive than the previous generation of the Mayson boys. Sometimes his behavior simply pissed me off, but his bad boy charm and good looks made it possible to overlook his bad traits. I like the alpha males in books so for me it was a bonus point.
We got to know a lot of new character thanks to Wes but not so deeply than I would have liked an for my greatest dissapointment the Mayson clan presens wasn't as constant either. Well, they're going get their own book but still.

Overall, I liked the book but I think it could have been better, still congrats for the author. The next book is going to be Jax's and I can't wait. The short description of the other Mayson girls I already know the June's and April's story will be my favorite.
Those who liked the original Until series going to live ths to, those who didn'r read it yet I recommend reiding that first, it's hard enough to follow the family tree after reading it. ;)

Chase Me (Broke and Beautiful) by Tessa Bailey Review

Series: Broke and Beautiful #1
Publish: March 17th 2015 by Avon Impulse
Format: ebook, 272 pages
Rating: 5 / 2.5
Synopsis: College drop-out Roxy Cumberland moved to New York with dreams of becoming an actress, but her dwindling bank account is quickly putting the kibosh on that fantasy. To make some quick cash, she signs up to perform singing telegrams. Her first customer is a gorgeous, cocky Manhattan trust-funder if she ever laid eyes on one. And what could be more humiliating than singing an ode to his junk, courtesy of his last one night stand? Maybe the fact that she’s dressed in a giant pink bunny costume . . .
After a night out to celebrate winning his last case, lawyer Louis McNally the Second isn’t prepared for the pounding in his head or the rabbit serenading him from the front door. But the sassy wit and sexy voice of the girl behind the mask intrigue him, and one look at her stunning face—followed by a mind-blowing kiss against his doorjamb—leaves Louis wanting more.
Roxy doesn’t need a spoiled rich boy who’s had everything in life handed to him on a Tiffany platter. But there’s more to Louis than his sexy surface and he’s determined to make Roxy see it...even if it means chasing her all over NYC.
Review:
This wasn't the first book from Tessa Bailey that I read but it was the worst so far. It started out as an interesting idea and even a funny story but there was so much horrible element in the book, it hurts.
I really like the author wristing style but tha spacing here was quite erratic. The whole story played out in a couple of days and it was one of the worst case of insta love. And there were the 'intim' scenes where they built up so much sexual tension and in the end nothing happens. It wouldn't have been a probem, because you know a little suspense never bad, but these little scenes went on and on, page after page sometimes even whole chapters and after the third or fourth time it became really frustrating and even boring. Add to this the fact that there was not much of a story behind everything else so you can imagine. Oh and for the reader it quite obvious what's going to be the conflict so basicly you just wait for the disaster from the beginning.

As for the chaarcters there was a couple of really promising one but we didn't get to know them. The book was totally Roxy and Louis centric. Roxy had a complex chararacter wich I personally hated. No matter how much the writer wanted to present her as an independet, strong and confident female, her actions and the thing she said refuted this. In my opinion she was insecure and honestly abit cheap. She fighted her feelings and the people around her every turn and she acted really ugly at times. She was obnoxious and even her sad and lonley past couldn't change my mind about her.
There was Louis whom I actually liked, he was one of the most real character I read abut. He was honestly trying to hel Roxy and was proud of her, he confessed that it was her first attempt at a relationship and was exected to make mistakes. He didn't deserved what Roxy dished out for him and in his place I would have droped her after her second episode. Point for him because he didn't give up.

The only thing that kept me going was the little but many funny moments in the book and I was curious about the secondary characters. So its not the book to read from Tessa Bailey if you really want to get to know her best works. Managable but won't be anybody favorite.

Favorite Part:
He dragged a hand through his unkempt black hair. “Am I still drunk, or are you dressed like a rabbit?”
His voice was rough from sleep. Probably not his usual voice. That had to be the reason her tummy did a backflip. “I’m dressed like a rabbit.”
“Okay.” He tilted his head. “Should I be drunk for this?”
“If anyone should be drunk for this, it’s me.”
“Good point.” He jerked his thumb back toward his dark apartment. “I think there’s some tequila left—”
“You know what?” This is my life right now. How did I get here? “I think I’m all set.”
He nodded once, as if out of respect for her decision. “So what now?”
“Are you . . .” She consulted her slip of paper through the round eyeholes. “Louis McNally?”
“Yeah.” He leaned against the doorjamb and considered her. “I was named after my grandfather. So, technically, I’m Louis   McNally the Second. How’s that for fancy?”“Why are you telling me this?”
  “Just making small talk.”
“Is this a typical Thursday exploit for you? Get a lot of forest creatures on your doorstep?”
  “You’d be the first.”
“Well, then. Call me Pink Bunny the First. How’s that for fancy?” When he laughed, she was grateful for the mask that hid her unexpected smile. Honestly, this situation was getting more ridiculous by the minute. She definitely didn’t have time for this. At one o’clock she was auditioning for a small theater company’s ironic production of Lassie. Priorities, Roxy.
“You sound cute.” He squinted at her, as if attempting to see through the plastic mask. “You cute under there, bunny?”
“Being that your one-night stand from last night sent me here to sing for you, I don’t know if that matters,” she answered sweetly.
“Cute girls trump all.” One dark eyebrow rose. “What was that about singing?”
Roxy cleared her throat, letting the horrifically stupid lyrics imprint on her brain. Lyrics she hadn’t written, thanks God. The sooner she got this over with, the sooner she could get out of the suffocating costume and forget this ever happened. Until tomorrow. When she was scheduled to dress like a giant bumble bee. For fuck sake.
Make every performance count. Channeling Liza Minnelli, she cocked one hip and raised the opposite hand.
To my hot shot honey bunny
Last night we went places and had some fun-ny
You brought me home and we skipped the small talk
Now I’m daydreaming about your perfect

Stop.” Louis shook his head slowly. “Jesus, please, make it stop.”
Roxy let her hand drop to her side. “You better be complaining about the lyrics and not my singing.”
“I—sure.” He scanned the hallway, looking relieved when he saw that none of his neighbors had overheard. “Who did you say sent you?”
She stared back at him, dumbfounded. Not that he could tell with the mask hiding her face. “You had more than one girl over last night?”
“I was celebrating,” he said defensively. “Don’t be a judgmental rabbit. They’re the worst.”

Review:
Nowdays there is so much book about step- siblings you practicly find one for every day. I'm pretty choosy about these kind of stories but I like Bella Jewel writing style so I picked it up.
She doesn't dissapoint, I only have one little problem with it and thats why I couldn't gave it a perfect rating.

First of all about the plot. It's pretty straight forward and not really that complicated. Thanks to that it's a light but fantastic read. I love how its unfolds from a simple family vacation to a serious disaster. There's a lot of heartbreaking emotion in the background and a couple of times I almost started to cry. It's quite a delight to watch how 6 people became a tight and loving family. I loved the family dinamism and the relationships Aria formed with the trhee brother.
For the most part, I did enjoy the story, sure it had its moments and the characters drove me crazy, especially Aria because let me tell you if somebody did to me what Blade did to Aria I would have kick him to the curb after the first time. But Aria blindly and at some point I think even selfdestructively loved him. This was my problem. And then there was the fact that she still suffered because of the nightmares. That was a bit overkill for me. Oh and don't even talk about Blade actions. I loved most of the secondary characters and I can't wait for their respective stories.

There is everything in the book romance, tragedy, action and humor. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall, I'm statisfied and happy with it. Bella Jewel done it again.

Lick (Stage Dive) by Kylie Scott Review

Series: Stage Dive #1
Publish: October 11th 2013 by St. Martin's Griffin
Format: ebook, 232 pages
Rating: 5 / 4.5
Synopsis: Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.
Review:
Then I first came across this book, I wasn't etirely sure about it because the author previous books I didn't like. Fortunately when I finished I was really relieved. It is a fantastic and beautiful book about a sweet romance between Evelyn and David. There is a distinctive humor in it. I love the way how the author writes the dialogues, it is phenomenal and because of it the romantic line feels so much stronger, emotional that it's amazing.

Both of the main characters personality is detailed and for me likeable. I like that their relationship is began with a crazy, impulsive decision wich shows quite well waht kind of life David have. Sure it's not so favorable for Evelyn who has a life plan, but their meeting turns everything upside down. But she represents David connection with the ordinary world, what he desperately craves. Thanks to that they form a dynamic link and learn a lot from each other about life, love and what is really important in the end. However both character learn in my opinion Evelyn developes the most during the story. She realizes she doesn't want her planed life and starts to disciver herself more. It is an interesting process to follow.
Oh and I absolutely love David's character. He is kind from the beginning and fortunately he doesn't have the ususal and overused rock star personality traits. It is easy to empathize with him.

The romance is beautiful. I love their chemistry and the little light hearted back and forth between them. The whole relationship feels honest and authentic. Especially after they realize that the attraction is really threre and not just the cause of their drunkennes. In emotions the book is a spot on. Congratulation Kylie Scott, good job. It isn't forced or overdramatic. Indeed you can find a lot of tension in the story but it just became more intense because of it. The only thing I don't like quite much is the fact that Evely leaves David every other turn. He has to beg and work a lot for her, a little bit too much inmy opinion.

I have to mention the supportive characters, too. They're all built up exceptionally and despite their part in the plot I like almost all of them. There is david ex who is a hateful and obnoxious but excellent at that or my personal favourite Mal, the funny, charming drummer, who created a lasting impression.

It is a new adult book and like this genre or not, I still recommend it. I isn't falling into the usuall box, like others about rockers so it is a breathe of fresh air. A fresh, light, sexy, fascinating story.

I was in a reading funk and desperately needed something to read, but couldn't get into anything I started. Then I saw this book. The cover is nothing out of the ordinary, but the synopsis immediately got my attention. With just the prologue I was hooked.

The story is a stand alone, about love and new beginnings. Since both of the main characters have some painful experience with relationships, both of them is reluctant to even try. Because of this there relationship moves like a snail and about 70% of the book discusse their courtship. I must confess in my opinion it goes into cheesy category. Don’t get me wrong I like that despite the love at forst sight situation, there is a ’get to know you’ period, because of this there are quite a few boring part, it is a bit slow for my taste. I was expecting a more eventfull story. Only the prologue and the last 3 or 4 chapter fall under the exciting adjective. However the writing style is really good and I love the general idea. The narration alternate between Tatum and Blaise, so we can see how their mind works and what they’re thinking. There is a beautifully built background for the plot and the main character’s personalities are really detailed.

Tatum is a beutiful and smart girl, but I don’t think that she is on her 100%. In a way it’s understandable, since she went through a huge loss in every possible way,but I don’t think it necessarily goes hand in hand with a total breakdown. You have to stand up and fight. The only thing Tatum does to move on is her work, even the move is just because she afraid of being alone. She isn’t my favourite type of character. I like the fiery, sarcastic and strong heroines. She is definitly not one.

Blaise is a really sexy, down to earth, protective, caring, affectionate and a little bit of a manwhore. If you call somebody who after a painful betrayal start to use what women offer to him- nothing less, nothing more-a manwhore. He isn’t afraid to show his feelings and really determined. If I would have to choose I would choose Blaise in a heartbeat over a possessive, alpha male. I really like his personality.Though I am a little bit dissapointed, that his troubled past only caused a blip ont he radar towards the end of the book. There is a lot of possibility in the storyline and Ms. Ryan didn’t used all of them.
We get to meet a lot of supportive characters, but doesn’t get to know them. They’re there but their story stay in the shadow. I don’t have a favourit, they are quite insignificant in the lights of the storyline.

There are a couple of shortcomings in this book, but is still like it. It’s a perfect summer read, light and easy. I absolutley love the epilogue , I’m sucker for a happily ever after story. I recommend this book to anyone who likes these kind of contemporary romances.
